The Emeigh, Pennsylvania, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Kylie Madison McMullen, a beloved 10-year-old girl whose life was filled with laughter, creativity, friendship, and unforgettable moments with the people who loved her. Kylie passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at 12:07 a.m., leaving behind a family and community deeply impacted by her kindness and joyful spirit.
Born on January 8, 2016, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kylie was the cherished daughter of Sean and Kirsten McMullen. From an early age, she brought happiness to those around her with her unique personality, curiosity, and ability to find excitement in even the simplest moments.
Kylie was a child with many passions. She loved all things Disney, especially Mulan and Stitch, and found joy in activities that allowed her imagination to shine. She enjoyed playing Roblox, watching YouTube, swimming, creating memories with friends, and embracing everything from unicorns to field hockey.
Her family remembers the small traditions that made Kylie’s life special. Trips to Five Below after clinic visits, enjoying vanilla ice cream with sprinkles, and spending time with loved ones were moments she treasured. For Kylie, happiness was often found in the everyday experiences shared with the people closest to her.
One of the greatest joys in Kylie’s life was the bond she shared with her siblings, Quinn and Cameron. Her relationship with Quinn was filled with countless hours of playing Roblox, doing makeup, making crafts, and simply enjoying each other’s company. With Cameron, Kylie shared a special sibling connection, lovingly embracing the role of his big sister and cherishing the place she held in his life.
Kylie also valued her friendships deeply. Her friends brought her laughter, comfort, and a sense of belonging. Whether they were playing together, sharing conversations, or creating memories, Kylie appreciated the people who made her feel loved, accepted, and understood.
Adventure was a defining part of Kylie’s personality. She loved amusement parks, roller coasters, and trying new experiences. She approached life with excitement and curiosity, always ready to explore something new and turn ordinary days into meaningful memories.
Field hockey became an especially important part of Kylie’s journey. Through TEAM IMPACT, Kylie was connected with the IUP field hockey team, creating a relationship that became much more than a connection through sports. The team welcomed Kylie into their lives, celebrated her, visited her, and created memories that brought her tremendous happiness.
Her family expressed lasting gratitude to the IUP field hockey team for becoming part of Kylie’s story and for the love and support they showed her throughout her life.
Kylie also formed meaningful relationships during her years receiving care at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Her family remembers the special bonds she created with doctors, nurses, and caregivers who became important figures in her life. Among those she loved were Dr. Jessica Daley, Dr. Scott Maurer, and Dr. Maura Miglioretti, along with many nurses in the clinic and on units 9A and 9B who provided care, comfort, and moments of happiness.
Kylie is survived by her parents, Sean and Kirsten McMullen; her siblings, Quinn and Cameron; her grandparents, Shawn and Mary Beth McMullen and Robert and Wendy Quanstrom; her aunts and uncles, Tim and Jess Anderson, Ben and Mandy Mardis, Korrey and Karis Alderman, and Dean and Erin Mitchell; her cousins, Bella, Bryr, Beau, Brax, Briggs, Ryker, Noah, Isla, Ryan, and Teagan; and her great-grandparents, Kevin McMullen, Ralph and Frances Ferguson, and Nancy Quanstrom.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Elizabeth McMullen, Mildred Barnes, William Barnes, and Richard Quanstrom.
A private gathering celebrating Kylie’s life will take place with close family and friends before the public viewing. Friends will be received at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. in Northern Cambria on August 20, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In honor of Kylie, her family has invited those attending to wear something that represents the things she loved — Disney, unicorns, field hockey, crimson red, navy blue, sparkle, or anything that brings her memory to mind.
Although Kylie’s life was far shorter than anyone wished, the impact she made was immeasurable. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, classmates, caregivers, and everyone fortunate enough to become part of her journey.
Kylie Madison McMullen will be remembered for her laughter, adventurous heart, creativity, courage, and the happiness she brought into the lives of others. Her memory will continue to live on through the countless people who loved her and the beautiful moments she left behind.
